October 7, 2017 Gun Dog and Puppy Trials

Cale Parnell and Rev

James Parnell and Sis

Mick Gill and Willie

The Tulsa Bird Dog Association kicked off the second half of our 2017 season with the first Gun Dog and Puppy trial of the fall. The conditions started out a bit soggy in the morning, getting better throughout mid day and ended fairly warm with temperatures in the low 80s. We would like to thank our judges, Ellison Gilliland, Tom Krause and Ben Faulkner. All the help banding and planting birds was much appreciated by the trial chairman Ben Faulkner and of course we want to thank out sponsor, Purina for all the support they give us for each and every trial we hold.

It was a father and son victory this week with new members James Parnell taking first in the Gun Dog field with Sis, English Setter female, and his son Cale Parnell taking first in the Puppy field with Rev, German Shorthair Pointer male. Congratulations are in order to both of them and their crew who ran a total of seven dogs on the day!

Finishing second in the Gun Dog field was Mick Gill with Willie, Brittany male,  and third went to Randy Billington with Gunner, Brittany male.

Full results can be seen here. Congratulations are in order for all that placed in a fairly large trial. As the weather gets better, we’ll likely start to see trials fill up again, so please get in there and sign up early to make sure you have a spot.
