Instructions for Adding a News Post to Your Home Page
From your Dashboard, scroll down to “Posts.” Then click on it.
Choose “Edit Post”
Make sure you type in a title for your post
Then choose “standard editor”
Once you’re in the WordPress “block” editor, click on the “+” and choose “Browse All” to add all the available blocks to the left of your screen.
Type the content you want to add to the page.
If you want to add a video, a picture, or a video, click on the block that matches what you want to add.
Click on the blue “Update” button at the top right-hand side of your screen to publish your post.
Adding an Image Gallery
From the blocks available, choose “gallery”
Either upload your photos or choose them from your “Media Library”
If you choose from your “Media Library,” then checkmark the photos you want to add.
Once you’re through choosing photos, click on the blue button on the lower right-hand side of the screen to “Create Gallery”
Next, you will see the images you’ve chosen on the screen
You will also see another place to add captions to each photo if you would like.
On the lower right-hand side of your screen is a blue button that says, “Insert Gallery.” Click on the button.
Add to the Home Page
To make sure this page is featured on the website’s home page, you’ll need to checkmark the “Home Page” category from “Categories” on the right side of your screen.
Choose a Featured Image
The featured image is what people see on your home page. It represents this news post and helps people decide whether they want to read the post or not.
On the right side of your screen, below categories, you’ll find a rectangle that says, “Set Featured Image.”
Click on the rectangle and choose the image you want from your “Media Library” or upload one from your computer.
Write an Excerpt for Your News Item
In the except box, you’re able to write a short description of what this news post is about.
